The President’s Cup, the little brother to the Ryder Cup, will be held in Montreal, Canada, September 26-29. And, I for one can not wait. The course: The Royal Montreal Golf Club. The late September date suggest a chill in the air and maybe even some foliage on the change. It should be a gorgeous setting even on TV.
Let’s get down to the business at hand though. How are we, err Jim Furyk, going to select the 12 players to represent the good ole USA? The question is really implying – is Furyk a ‘company man’ or a bridge to Keegan Bradley’s approach, or anticipated approach, for the next Ryder Cup at the vaunted Beth Page Black? Meaning…. will the old guard like JT and Homa and Finau and Harman be served up to us, or will Jimmy go down the list and pick mainly the final 12 based on official ranking? I personally hope he takes some goof balls.
Here is the current Top 25 list for consideration as of August 18, subject to change as the FedEx Cup keeps unfolding: https://www.presidentscup.com/standings
The top 6 on both sides are locked in.
But if I’m Jimmy Furyk I spice shit up by picking #18 Keegan Bradley, obvs., #20 Cameron Young, #17 Billy Horshel, #12 Akshay Batia, #11 Sam Burns, and #15 Denny McCarthy.
LFG USA.
PS. I’m off to do some research on whether our Captain, Mr. James Furyk, has any ability to select players from the LIV Tour.
