So, what exactly is all the scuttle-butt about Lexi Thompson joining a PGA event, during the off-season, in Vegas, on a “sponsors exemption”? Let’s dissect real quick:
- Brings a much needed focus in on pay for play vs straight equity pay for quota. If she crushes, she and they can earn big dough in the future and it brings into the frontal golf cortex the need to maybe re-examine LPGA v PGA and how they are structured and marketed. Ain’t gonna happen though.
- It’s a sponsor’s exemption meaning they gave her a pass thinking she’d draw eye balls, awareness, attention, consideration and maybe increased purchases and loyalty to that said sponsor. It’s that simple, people. It’s not a “movement,” its a marketing ploy.
- It’s Vegas. Off-season. I’ll watch. Not many others will. It’s fun, too. Lighten the fuck up, Frances.
Signed, Not a mysoganist nor sexist. Opinionated golf fan though.
